The responsible attitude of the media to the reliability of information is of paramount importance given Russia’s escalating hybrid aggression

Dear journalists and media workers!

For the eighth year in a row, Ukraine has been countering Russia’s hybrid military aggression. And this war continues not only on the frontline but also on the information front, where one of the main goals of the Russian Federation is the Ukrainian media, experts, representatives of civil society – all those who shape stances and are opinion leaders.

In this regard, the Kremlin is acting in strict accordance with the canons of Russian intelligence during military aggression.

All anti-Ukrainian narratives are planned, created and managed from Russian territory; “black” propaganda, blatant fabrications and lies are widely used; all possible means of communication, any tools are used to convey disinformation.

All this information terrorism, the information “pandemic” pursue a single goal – to influence our ability to resist Russian aggression, to create a parallel information reality. The “fifth column” within our state also contributes to this.

Not only classic media widely become the platform for the mass spread of disinformation, but also social networks and messengers, where there is neither self-censorship nor editorial policy. Unfortunately, the spread of fakes is sometimes unknowingly facilitated by the media themselves, often without checking the reliability of the data obtained.

With the attempt to escalate Russian hybrid aggression in the East of Ukraine, the number of fakes and attempts to manipulate people’s minds has increased exponentially.

Therefore, a responsible attitude to the reliability of information is of paramount importance today, being an important element of the information security of the state.

Dear journalists, dear friends! We encourage you to provide balanced and accurate information during the period of intensification of the propaganda campaign by the Russian Federation, without taking the bait of provocations and playing up to disinformation campaigns aimed at weakening our ability to counter the enemy.

The Truth is our best weapon!
