A meeting on the situation in housing and public utilities was held at the NSDC Staff

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksiy Solovyov, a meeting of the interdepartmental working group to prepare materials for the meeting of the NSDC of Ukraine on the issue “On the situation in the sphere of housing and public utilities” was held at the NSDC Staff.

The participants of the meeting considered problematic issues in the sphere of housing and public utilities and discussed proposals to solve them.

According to Mr. Solovyov, the key issue in this area today is the change of utility tariffs. “We should primarily think about the consumer”, - he underscored.

Also, according to the Deputy NSDC Secretary, it is important to specify clear areas of responsibility of central and local authorities in the provision of housing services. “We are talking about maximum decentralization, providing the maximum amount of information citizens, openness and transparency, as well as the responsibility of local authorities”, - he said.

Moreover, Mr. Solovyov stressed the need to analyze the mechanisms for the sale of excess gas in Ukraine. “We need to analyze the situation to prevent any money laundering schemes through the sale of excess gas to the GTS Operator of Ukraine”, - the Deputy NSDC Secretary pointed out.

The meeting also covered the need to use clear formulas for calculating utility tariffs, and to conduct energy audits of households. The participants stressed the need to find new heat supply schemes in cities and address the issue of guaranteed gas supply for all categories of consumers.

Representatives of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities, the Ministry for Communities and Territorial Development, the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Security Service, Naftogaz of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Verkhovna Rada Apparatus, ARMA, specialist of the NSDC Staff participated in the meeting.
