Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov met with Director of the NATO StratCom COE Janis Sarts.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current security situation in the world and the region, reviewed issues of information security, countering disinformation and future technological challenges, and identified ways to deepen bilateral cooperation.

According to Oleksiy Danilov, in modern information wars, "it is much easier for authoritarian countries to act because there are no rules for them, unlike the civilized world," which requires increased coordination between partners in countering disinformation and manipulative narratives.

"russia has conducted a worldwide disinformation campaign about its alleged power, the world's "second army," and many in the West have picked up on this," he said, adding that today Ukraine, together with its partners, "proves the opposite."

The NSDC Secretary emphasized that "there is no need to be afraid of russia," the process of its fragmentation has already begun, and the international community should be prepared for this.

The parties paid special attention to the development of strategic communications in the new digital environment, technological progress, Big Data and the risks associated with the development of artificial intelligence.

In his turn, Mr. Sarts noted Ukraine's strong experience in combating disinformation and assured of its readiness to deepen practical cooperation between NATO StratCom COE and the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
