The President of Ukraine held a meeting: We discussed the situation in Syria, Kursk region, risks of destabilization around the Korean Peninsula
On Monday, December 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff. The meeting focused on the strategy and concrete steps of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine regarding the situation in Syria after the fall of Assad and his escape.
‘Ukraine is interested in stabilizing the situation in Syria and the region as a whole and will support the necessary efforts of its partners. We believe that it is crucial for the security of the people of Syria and the region as a whole to remove any Russian presence from Syria,’ Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Supreme Commander-in-Chief emphasized that our state is grateful to every country and every leader who is now ready to help Syrian society restore normal life and build effective state institutions.
‘We will definitely support the people of Syria in food security. All the necessary decisions have been made on our part, and Ukraine is ready to supply food. We are ready to work with the representatives of the Syrian people to correct the mistakes of the Assad regime, in particular, regarding Ukraine and the whole of Europe,’ he summarized.
The President of Ukraine noted that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi had delivered a report on the situation at the front and in the areas of the Kursk operation. According to him, there are risks of sending more soldiers and military equipment to the Russian army from North Korea, and we will respond to this with tangible measures. He also added that, according to preliminary data, the number of killed and wounded North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region exceeds 3,000.
‘And it is important that the world understands that the risk of destabilization around the Korean Peninsula and in neighboring regions and waters is increasing in proportion to the growth of cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. The transfer of modern warfare experience and the spread of military technology from Russia is a global threat. For the world, the price of restoring stability is always much higher than the price of effective pressure on those who destabilize the situation and destroy lives,’ Volodymyr Zelenskyy summarized.
