Continuation of martial law and mobilization: The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine presented two draft laws in the Verkhovna Rada

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has extended the duration of martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days, until August 6, 2025 due to the armed aggression of the russian federation.

On Wednesday, April 16, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, presented to the Verkhovna Rada draft laws approving the Presidential Decrees «On the Extension of Martial Law in Ukraine» and «On the Extension of the Period of General Mobilization».

On the eve of April 15, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted the relevant proposal regarding the extension of martial law and general mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada.

For reference: Last time, martial law and general mobilization were extended in February 2025. For the first time in Ukraine, martial law was introduced and general mobilization was announced on February 24, 2022 in connection with the full-scale military aggression of the russian federation.
