Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and Head of the NATO Representation Patrick Turner discussed security guarantees for Ukraine and new support mechanisms
A meeting between Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and Head of the NATO Representation in Ukraine Patrick Turner took place in Kyiv.
The parties discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, their practical implementation, and steps to deepen cooperation with the Alliance. Special attention was paid to the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program, a mechanism that allows NATO and European partners to finance the purchase of American weapons and ammunition for Ukraine. This tool makes it possible to meet priority defense needs more quickly and strengthen the joint transatlantic front of support.
“Our goal is lasting peace based not on declarations, but on concrete protection mechanisms and real security guarantees for the citizens of Ukraine. We appreciate the willingness of NATO and European partners to work with us to create an effective security system,” emphasized Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Summing up the meeting, Patrick Turner, Head of the NATO Representation in Ukraine, noted: "We had a very useful discussion on a wide range of issues: prospects for peace, security guarantees, Ukraine’s defence strategic priorities, support to Ukraine by NATO Allies, and ways to strengthen cooperation. I look forward to continuing to work together closely."
