Oleksandr Turchynov: Deep reforming and changes in people’s lives are impossible without the spiritual foundation

Oleksandr Turchynov together with Nobel Laureate in Economics Vernon L. Smith and young Ukrainian scientists participated in the presentation of the book "The Reformation. European success and a chance for Ukraine", which includes their works.

According to Oleksandr Turchynov, Ukraine in a civilizational sense is a part of Europe. "And it is crucial to understand that Europe was built by the Protestant movement leaders", - he said adding that the Reformation changed Europe and contributed to the development of the leading European countries.

 "The real Europe, - Secretary of the NSDC added, - is the Europe of Martin Luther, John Calvin, the Puritans' Europe. The leading countries of the world were built on this powerful fundament".

He stressed that while implementing reforms in Ukraine based on European experience, "it is necessary to study the spiritual foundation, without which no real changes and rapid development of the worlds' leading countries would have taken place.
