Oleksandr Turchynov from the “Topolya” border guard post: The border of a civilized Europe begins here

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov took part in the opening of the updated department of the Border Guard Service "Topolya" of the Kharkiv border squad.

After familiarizing with the work of the border squad, Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine pointed out that "the border of a civilized Europe begins here". "Therefore, the border should be securely protected and technically equipped. For the enemy, it must become an insurmountable European wall they will be unable to pass through", - Secretary of the NSDC stated.

At the same time, Mr. Turchynov noted that all areas of the border controlled  by the department of the Border Guard Service "Topolya" are equipped with modern technical means, which allow conducting round-the-clock surveillance, "at the dominant height, a military support point with serious weapons is installed, which, in the event of military aggression, will allow restraining the enemy till the arrival of the Armed Forces and the National Guard".

The border guards' commandment reported to the NSDC Secretary on preparation for ensuring the crossing of the Ukrainian border by Russian citizens only with international biometric passports, as well as on technical support for their identification (taking fingerprints).

"I hope that the government will financially support this work, because it is the security of the country", - Mr. Turchynov said.

Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine also noticed that the squad premises are equipped in accordance with European standards. "For offenders, provision is made for a temporary detention in a cell. We kindly ask you not to inform Russian media about it, because the Russians who want to have a rest in the cell, which is not inferior in its quality to many Russian hotels, will rush through the border", - he joked.
