Oleksiy Danilov: No elections can be held in Ukraine during martial law
No elections in Ukraine, neither parliamentary nor presidential, can be held during martial law.
This was emphasized by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov on Suspilne TV channel on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, speaking about the statement of President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Tiny Cox on the need for Ukraine to hold parliamentary and presidential elections even under martial law.
"The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe should clearly understand that there is a Constitution and laws of our country that we have to live by, and we will figure it out on our own. No elections can be held during martial law," he said.
