They discussed strengthening Ukraine's defense potential: Oleksandr Lytvynenko meets with EU delegation
On Wednesday, June 4, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko met with a delegation of the European Union headed by Benedikta von Seeherr-Toss, Managing Director for Peace, Security and Defense of the European External Action Service (EEAS). The delegation also included Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.
During the dialogue, the parties focused on Ukraine's current needs, further defense cooperation with the European Union, and countering cyber threats.
The NSDC Secretary emphasized the critical need for continued military and financial support from the EU. Oleksandr Lytvynenko noted that Ukraine needs more air defense systems to repel enemy air strikes.
Ms. Benedikta von Seeherr-Toss emphasized that Europe should build its own defense and at the same time help Ukraine strengthen its self-defense.
Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova emphasized the importance of deepening security cooperation between the European Union and Ukraine.
Following the discussion, the parties agreed to further cooperate in the context of security cooperation.
