Address of the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation
War is always about death and suffering. For everyone.Today is a day of remembrance and reconciliation.
I remember photos and video of cities that survived war. There were ruins and emptiness. Local residents, who slowly come out of their hiding places, face a new reality: a city where they lived a week ago does not exist. There's only a landfill. A mixture of dust, bricks and human bones. This is a new reality people have to live in.
The behavior and the motivation of aggressors at all times are about the same - an aspiration for power and a desire to redirect internal aggression inside the country outside, because if you don't do this, the internal power always sweeps its Fuhrer. It has always been like this, so it will be the same today. Tyrannies of screwed-up Fuhrers always fall dawn. It is only a matter of time.
Unfortunately, at war those die who defend their country in a forefront. They go forward because they cannot act in a different way. A memory of them - this is what inspires and motivates future generations of heroes to fight for their motherland. Let's keep in memory.
