Oleksandr Turchynov: Communist Party of Ukraine loses the right to act as a political party
From now on the Communist Party of Ukraine loses its political status and the right to act as a political party. This was announced by Secretary of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov at a briefing today.
"Today, according to the law adopted by the Parliament, Minister of Justice signed a decision, by which the communist parties of Ukraine lose their right to be the subject of political and electoral process", - NSDC Secretary said.
Oleksandr Turchynov called this decision an act of historical justice, because it is exactly the Communist Party, ideology of which actually equals to ideology of Nazism, who bears the responsibility for torturing Ukrainian people, mass repressions, Holodomor". "From the first days of Russian aggression, the Communist Party has demonstrated its treacherous position and acted as a fifth column, supporting and contributing to the occupation of the Crimea and supporting the invasion of Russian troops in the east of Ukraine", - he said, reminding that last year, being the acting President of Ukraine, he instructed Security Service of Ukraine, the General Prosecutors Office of Ukraine and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to examine actions of Communist Party for the conformity to the Constitution of Ukraine, and, if there were reasons, to provide revocation of registration and prohibition of this party.
NSDC Secretary also noted that the materials, proving criminal activities of Communist Party against their own country, have been collected and submitted to the court. "But, as you know, one of the huge problems of our country is judicial branch of power, which needs radical changes and hundred percent renewal", - he said, adding that the trial on the prohibition of Communist Party has ran over time and still goes on. Oleksandr Turchynov also noted that, while presiding over Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on July 24th, 2014 he dissolved the Communist Party faction, which, using the parliamentary rostrum, "was poisoning people with their lies and pro-Russian propaganda".
"Today's event is really a historical moment, it is really the responsibility before those who were buried in Bykivnya, who are in the graves in Siberia, in other places, where Ukrainian patriots were tortured and murdered", - Oleksandr Turchynov said.
