Greetings of Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov with the Day of Rescue Worker

Dear rescuers, workers and veterans of the civil protection!

Celebrating the Day of Rescue Worker, we address words of gratitude to those who, putting their lives and health at risk round-the-clock, guard the security and peace of Ukrainian citizens.

In the fight against accidents, catastrophes, and natural disasters, you always demonstrate the best human qualities: exceptional courage and self-sacrifice. You save people from fires, ruins and floods, you overcome obstructions and snow drifts. This year alone, over 50.000 fires were stifled, lives of over a thousand people were saved.

Those were you who transported our compatriots from dangerous areas when their lives were threatened. You brought humanitarian aid, restoring critical infrastructure.

I would like to express special gratitude to those rescue workers, who every day, shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers of the Armed Forces and law enforcement officers liquidate the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine: the enemy artillery fire, mine warfare, terrorist acts and subversive activities.  Under shellings, you come to the rescue of those most in need.

The work of rescuers is associated with the constant risk to life, and today we bow our heads before the cherished memory of those eighteen rescuers who died performing their duties in the anti-terrorist operation zone, and four firefighters who gave their lives during emergency response this year.

May the memory of the fallen heroes live forever and honor to them!

I express sincere gratitude to the whole personnel for loyalty to the oath, heroism, courage, and resolution. I wish you good health, harmony and most importantly - peace and quiet in our country!
