Key aspects of cybersecurity in the SBGS systems were discussed at the XXII meeting of the National Cybersecurity Cluster

On September 26, 2023, a meeting of the National Cybersecurity Cluster was held on the topic: "Cybersecurity as a component of border security: threats, needs and best practices of cyber defense in the sector". The event was organized by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center and the State Border Guard Service Administration in cooperation with the U.S. Foundation for Civilian Research and Development with the support of the U.S. Department of State.

"The strength of our National Cybersecurity System is primarily in its adaptability, because during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, we quickly improved in accordance with new threats and united to protect the state in cyberspace. Government agencies, critical infrastructure facilities, private companies, and international partners have become one powerful system. And such events are aimed at strengthening the ties in this system through common goals, objectives, values and trust," said Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service of the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine, the NCSCC Secretary Natalia Tkachuk, opening the event.

Natalia Tkachuk also thanked international partners, in particular the U.S. Foundation for Civilian Research and Development and the U.S. Department of State, for their continued support in holding such events.

During the event, key aspects of the SBGS activities in cyberspace, best practices of cybersecurity in the sector, in particular, the US experience and needs and best practices in the cybersecurity sector at the borders were discussed. A discussion panel on "Cybersecurity Interaction in the Context of Hybrid Threats" was also held with the participation of representatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the SBGSU Administration, the State Special Communications Service, and CyberUnit Technology.

"The Cluster's platform continues to promote multilateral dialog in the field of cybersecurity in Ukraine. That is why our meeting is held in cooperation with the Administration of the State Border Guard Service. The participants discussed in detail the cyber component in the process of protecting the state border of Ukraine. This topic is extremely important, as it raises a number of aspects, the discussion of which directly affects the national security of our country," said Mykhailo Verich, Head of Operations at CRDF Global in Ukraine.

The meeting of the National Cybersecurity Cluster was attended by about one hundred representatives of the public sector, international and donor community, embassies and private institutions. Speakers at the event included representatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the State Customs Service, the US Border and Customs Service, the State Special Communications Service, ESET, and ISSP.
