Oleksii Danilov: Ukraine and Lithuania together strengthen democracy and security in Europe

Ukraine-Lithuania 1.jpgSecretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksii Danilov met with a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis. The parties discussed the current security situation in Ukraine and the world, actions of the Ukrainian authorities and the international community to prevent russian aggression. They also discussed military assistance and bilateral cooperation.

Oleksii Danilov thanked Lithuania for its active political stance in support of Ukraine's territorial integrity, and stressed that Lithuania was one of the first countries to support Ukraine after the start of the full-scale russian invasion, providing military, financial and humanitarian Ukraine-Lithuania 2.jpgassistance, and speaking out in the international arena to condemn the russian invasion.

"Poland, the United Kingdom and the Baltic States have been and remain Ukraine's greatest friends and partners. For this, we are sincerely grateful to you”, – he stressed.

For his part, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis noted that Ukraine is fighting not only for its integrity, but also for the European values of democracy and freedom.

Ukraine-Lithuania 3.jpg“None of the assistance we can provide can compare with the sacrifices of Ukraine in this war”, – he emphasised.

Gabrielus Landsbergis stressed that international partners need to accelerate and increase military assistance to Ukraine, which is necessary for its victory.

“russia cannot but be taken seriously as a threat, however, there is no need to be afraid of the possible consequences of its collapse. Lithuania wants Ukraine to win, and it is very important to have the political will and logistical support for this”, – he noted.

Ukraine-Lithuania 4.jpgThe Secretary of the NSDC called on partners not to be afraid of russians and not to delay the supply of weapons to Ukraine, as the victory of our country will be an important step towards a just and peaceful world.

“To be afraid implies to lose in advance. russians must be put in their place. There is no other way. The process of fragmentation of russia has already begun, and we need maximum support and strength from our partners. I am convinced that the victory will be our common”, – concluded Oleksii Danilov.
