Strengthening the transatlantic partnership: Nataliia Tkachuk participated in the meeting of the NATO CCDCOE Steering Committee
On 29 October 2024, Nataliia Tkachuk, Head of the Information and Cybersecurity Service of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Secretary of the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity (NCCC), took part in a meeting of the Steering Committee of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (NATO CCDCOE) held in Spitz, Switzerland. Among the main issues discussed were the key achievements of cooperation with Ukraine.
During her speech, Nataliia Tkachuk shared Ukraine's experience in countering russian aggression in cyberspace and emphasised the importance of Ukraine's cooperation with NATO countries for ensuring national and global cyber resilience and the strength of the transatlantic partnership.
"Ukraine's participation in the CCDCOE is not only an important step towards integration into European and Euro-Atlantic defense structures, but also our country's unique experience in countering russian cyber aggression is important for strengthening collective cybersecurity in the context of an open and cynical cyber war that the terrorist country has also launched against NATO countries", Nataliia Tkachuk emphasised.
Ukraine joined the NATO CCDCOE in 2022 and, under the coordination of the NCCC, is constantly expanding cooperation with the Center, involving experts in joint research projects, training programs and strategic initiatives. Ukrainian specialists participate in NATO exercises such as Locked Shields, Crossed Swords, and Cyber Coalition, which improves their tactical and strategic cyber skills to counter modern threats. Cooperation with partners also provides access to specialised training courses and information exchange platforms, which is the basis for effective real-time response to cyber threats.
Also, this year, with the support of Luxembourg, a project was launched to improve the skills of Ukrainian specialists through a CCDCOE internship program for scientists, which is an important contribution to the training of a new generation of cyber leaders in Ukraine.
Given the strategic importance of cyber defense and information resilience, Ukraine will strengthen cooperation with NATO Centers of Excellence, which will help to combine efforts in all domains of defense and create effective synergies between cyberspace and traditional defence structures.
