Protection of the Energy System: President of Ukraine Held a Meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff

“The Staff meeting focused primarily on energy and the protection of our energy system. The russians have not changed their objective of destroying Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. They constantly launch attacks, adapting their strikes to challenge our defense capabilities and make it harder to repel them. I am grateful to all our defenders—every man and woman working to overcome this threat: our air shield, all air defense forces, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare (EW) units, and EW developers,” the President of Ukraine emphasized in his evening address.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the need to improve Ukraine’s electronic warfare capabilities to respond swiftly to emerging threats: “We must become significantly faster.”

During the meeting, reports were presented on the protection, coverage, and restoration of energy facilities after attacks. Special attention was given to air defense capabilities and the urgent need for interceptor missiles.

“There are new tasks for our diplomacy and for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in working with our partners,” the President noted.

“We specifically discussed air defense capabilities and the need for interceptor missiles. There are new assignments for our diplomatic corps and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in coordinating with partners. Supplying air defense systems to Ukraine is critical and must not be interrupted. We need to continuously explore ways globally to strengthen our defense, increase domestic production of necessary equipment, enhance production localization, and secure licenses from our partners. This is extensive work, and Ukraine’s future largely depends on its success,” Zelenskyy stressed.

During the meeting, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, delivered a report on the army’s modernization. According to the President, an action plan has already been approved to transition to a new organizational structure for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to establish new corps.

“We will maintain close attention to this—to its implementation. The corps system is essential. Today, we discussed the approach to appointing corps commanders: they must be the most capable, promising officers with combat experience and modern thinking,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded.
