Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine held a meeting on the state of implementation of the law on oligarchs
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov held a meeting on the state of implementation of the Law of Ukraine “Prevention of Threats to National Security Related to the Excessive Influence of Persons who have Significant Economic or Political Weight in Public Life (Oligarchs)”.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko, Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Malyuska, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrskyi, Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Olha Pishchanska, acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk, officials of the NSDC Staff participated in the meeting.
The NSDC Secretary noted that currently, about 86 persons may be subject to verification for compliance with the criteria envisaged by the Law.
Mr. Danilov reminded that this Law was put into effect on May 7 of this year, and by the NSDC decision of June 29, 2022, enacted by the Decree of the President of Ukraine № 459 of June 29, 2022, the Regulation on the Register of Persons who have Significant Economic or Political Weight in Public Life (Oligarchs) was adopted; the Regulation defines the order of forming and maintaining the Register.
According to him, the Regulation sets out the implementation of the organizational principles of the system of preventing the excessive influence of oligarchs and the procedure for applying influence measures to them. Formation and maintenance of the Register are ensured by the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine.
The participants of the meeting discussed information on the main stages of forming and maintaining the Register, as well as problematic issues of the implementation of the mentioned Law. Mr. Danilov emphasized the importance of strengthening interagency cooperation to increase the efficiency of implementing the law.
As a result of the meeting, a number of protocol instructions were given to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Bank of Ukraine.
