Oleksandr Turchynov: The new National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation is a blank document, though the threats are real
Secretary of NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov described the new National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation, signed by the President of the Russian Federation Volodymyr Putin on December 31, 2015, as a "blank document".
At the same time, Turchynov noted that "Russian threat, unfortunately, is not blank for our country", and stated that "resistance to Russian aggression remains for us the top priority of the state security".
Oleksandr Turchynov reminded that the latest version of this document entitled "The National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation till 2020" was adopted in 2009: "However, this Strategy has not lived till 2020".
"Russia's main security document is full of empty slogans and self-promotion of the greatness of Russia and its leadership, - Secretary of NSDC of Ukraine noticed. - While reading the Strategy, one gets the impression that it was prepared not by the professionals of the security sector but by the "Lifenews" journalists who had just received their "thirteenth" salary".
"The important thing is that for the first time since the Soviet Union the Putin's National Security Strategy defined the arch enemy - the United States, who "work against independent foreign and domestic policy of Russia, seeking to maintain its dominance in the world". The same "enemy" status is given to the NATO Alliance, "whose expansion, the approach of its military infrastructure to Russian borders pose a threat to national security", - he stressed.
Among Russia's "major friends" defined in the Strategy, Oleksandr Turchynov said, - are China and India, which, in his opinion, "are unlikely to support Russia in its terrorist provocations and war crimes".
"Ukraine was not forgotten in this document as well. According to the Kremlin, "unconstitutional coup" took place in Ukraine. Among other things, the West and the USA created a "military conflict in the east of Ukraine". This, in its turn, according to the document, creates a threat to Russia because of the significant length of the Russian-Ukrainian border", Oleksandr Turchynov said.
Secretary of NSDC of Ukraine emphasized that the key achievement is that "in the greatest traditions of socialist realism the Strategy defines the development of spirituality of the Russian Federation". "The traditional Russian spiritual and moral values are reviving. The young generation forms an honorable attitude towards the history of Russia. The civil society is consolidating around the common values...such as...the respect of family and religious traditions, patriotism...To counter the threats to national security, the Russian Federation will focus on strengthening the internal unity of the Russian society...", - he noted.
"Yes, the document is blank, but the Russian threat, unfortunately, is not blank for our country. Resistance to Russian aggression remains for us the top priority of the state security", - Oleksandr Turchynov concluded.
