Oleksandr Turchynov discussed with the US Under Secretary of the Treasury the issues of tracing and return of the funds withdrawn from the country by Yanukovych and his allies

A meeting of NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov with the US Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Adam Szubin took place.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the situation in the east of Ukraine, the issues of the joint fight against money laundering and terrorism financing. Special attention was paid to the questions of cooperation with the USA in tracing and return of the funds withdrawn from the country by Yanukovych and his allies. Also during the talks, the parties discussed the implementation of sanctions against financial institutions that operate in the occupied territories.

According to the US Under Secretary of the Treasury, considering the continued aggression against our country, America supports the extension of sanctions against the Russian Federation. Moreover, Adam Szubin expressed hope for close cooperation between our countries in the issues of countering terrorism financing and money laundering. "I believe that today Ukraine is under very strong stress of combatting forces that are trying to destabilize the life of the country and the people", - he said, emphasizing that the USA will continue to support Ukraine in its civilizational choice.
