Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov held meetings with the heads of the defense-security sector of the Republic of Turkey

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov in Istanbul held meetings with Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Fikri Yshyk, Secretary-General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey Seyfullah Hadzhymuftyuohlu and Director of the Secretariat for Defense Industries of the Republic of Turkey Іsmail Demir.

The parties acknowledged strategic and friendly nature of bilateral relations and underlined the significant progress in the field of military-technical cooperation. According to Mr. Turchynov, deepening cooperation in the military-political and military-technical spheres is one of the key directions of Ukrainian-Turkish relations.

In this context, Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine highly praised the work of the Joint working group for the coordination of strategic projects established last year, noticing that thanks to this, the list of Ukrainian-Turkish projects has expanded significantly.

"Specific results that enhance defense and security of our countries are crucial for us", - Oleksandr Turchynov underlined.

Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine also expressed hope that till the visit of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Kyiv "we will manage to launch several joint projects".

Oleksandr Turchynov and the heads of the defense-security sector of Turkey called for further intensification of cooperation in the aircraft and aerospace industries, the creation of new weapons and special equipment.

During the work of Ukrainian delegation, protocols on new areas of cooperation between the Turkish and Ukrainian defense industries were signed.

As previously reported, Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine during the visit to the Republic of Turkey, participated in the opening ceremony of the international defense industry exhibition "IDEF 2017".
