Oleksandr Turchynov: According to the decision of the NSDC of Ukraine, an integrated system of information counteraction became operational
According to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, an integrated system of information counteraction was launched in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov reported. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko participated in the launch of the system from the Presidential Situation Center.
According to Mr. Turchynov, a high-performance technological system was installed and launched along the entire delimitation line, which allows "completely blocking analog and digital broadcasting from Russian territory and the territory occupied by Russia".
"At the same time, the technological complex, developed by national producers, will not interfere with Ukrainian broadcasting while blocking the Russian signal", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine informed.
He also noticed that thanks to the efforts of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine and the BRT Concern a powerful potential for the development of communication infrastructure, the restoration of national broadcasting and the introduction of modern digital technologies in the region was laid.
"The reconstruction of the television tower destroyed by the occupants in the city of Kramatorsk, the arrangement of 30 analogue television and 32 radio-FM transmitters, the launch of digital television broadcasting from the station in Volnovakha, and a number of other steps to build the infrastructure of national information communications have become a solid basis for the restoration of Ukrainian broadcasting in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the basis for the return of citizens to their constitutional right to free access to information without any restrictions and barriers", - Mr. Turchynov said.
Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine also emphasized that the experience in introducing new technologies "is vital for us given the international obligations under which Ukraine should transfer to exclusively digital standard of broadcasting this year".
He explained that along the Ukrainian-Russian border "Russian TV channels could try to capture the place of Ukrainian analog broadcasting, which will stop operating". "The technology used in the integrated system of information counteraction will allow completely blocking Russian analog and digital broadcasting along the whole Ukrainian-Russian border after its launch in separate regions", - Mr. Turchynov noted.
"This will give us the opportunity to protect Ukrainian citizens from dirty streams of cynical information aggression, which will flow from the Russian television and radio to spread disinformation and destabilize the situation in Ukraine", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine said.
