Oleksandr Turchynov: Large-scale exercises in working out coordination of actions and interaction between power structures to ensure citizens’ security have taken place
In the conditions of martial law, coordination of actions and interaction between power structures, as well as other complex tasks to ensure citizens' safety, are being worked out. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov during joint exercises involving the National Police, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, heads of the State Border Guard Service, the National Police, the National Guard and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine also took part in the exercises.
The Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine and the Minister of Internal Affairs presented awards to the best units participating in the exercises.
According to the NSDC Secretary, the participants of the exercises were tasked with working out the coordination of actions and interaction between the security forces, and the resolution of complex tasks to ensure the citizens' safety in the conditions of martial law. "The scenarios of ensuring law and order and security of citizens during various emergency situations, the elimination of subversive groups, the localization of man-made and natural emergencies, as well as resolving abnormal situations at the state border, etc. have been worked out", - Mr. Turchynov said adding that representatives of all agencies (about 1200 people and over 100 units of military and special equipment) who participated in the exercises, demonstrated excellent results and high professional skills.
"Despite the legal state of martial law and completing a complex of military and security tasks in preparation and mobilization of the country for countering full-scale aggression, the rights, and freedoms of citizens are not limited in any region", - Mr. Turchynov stressed in a comment to journalists.
The NSDC Secretary emphasized that the imposition of martial law "provides an opportunity to conduct a complete check of the county's readiness to counteract a full-scale military aggression". "The mobilization tasks and plans are being worked out, the readiness of all the authorities, first of all, the security forces, to fulfill their functions in a special period is being checked, territorial and civil defense is being examined, as well as the ability to quickly redeploy large military units at a considerable distance to the most dangerous directions in case of offensive", - he said.
