Serhiy Kryvonos: The adoption of the draft law on reforming “Ukroboronprom” State Concern will contribute to the reduction of corruption risks in the defense-industrial complex

The adoption of the draft law on reforming "Ukroboronprom" will contribute to the reduction of corruption risks in the defense-industrial complex. This was stated by Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhiy Kryvonos in the "Rendezvous" program on Channel 5.

According to him, recently a round table meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov with the participation of people's deputies and defense sector specialists, during which a draft law envisaging the removal of non-governmental functions from "Ukroboronprom" was discussed.

Mr. Kryvonos reminded that "Ukroboronprom" was created on Yanukovych's initiative "for simpler control over all financial flows that went through defense enterprises". Therefore, according to the Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, the purpose of the draft law submitted to the parliament is "to destroy the old management system at "Ukroboronprom", while the enterprises that can operate efficiently and transparently will remain.

According to him, on the contrary, a separate state body with expanded powers will be established to control the enterprises participating in the concern. "According to the new draft law, a significant number of existing straw companies will be eliminated", - the Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine said adding that the draft law also foresees enhancing the level of transparency of the state defense order.
