The NCCC experts held a training within the “Vulnerability Management” series for technical specialists of the banking sector
Experts of the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity (NCCC) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine held a training event within the framework of the “Vulnerability Management” (VDP) series. The event was conducted with the support of the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global).
30 technical specialists from the banking sector, specializing in pentes, from 16 private banking institutions and 13 banks-objects of critical infrastructure participated in the third program of the VPD series.
The purpose of such activities is to improve practical skills in identifying vulnerabilities in information systems and ensuring comprehensive cyber protection in key cybersecurity actors, government agencies, critical infrastructure and other actors within public-private partnerships.
At the first stage, which lasted four weeks, the participants tested information systems to identify vulnerabilities and worked out interactions in reporting incidents and vulnerabilities.
During the second, two-week stage, participants performed practical tasks at the their employment facilities and checked their information systems. The third stage was focused on testing the cybersecurity perimeter, and the participants of the event submitted relevant reports to the NCCC based on the results of the training.
The winner of the six-week VDP training for banking employees was invited to become a mentor of relevant exercises on par with experts from the NCCC, the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine, Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, the Securities Depository. Also, the first six winners of the program gained access to the HACKTHEBOX platform to improve their skills. All participants received certificates, and the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine awarded the three best.
For the second year in a row, the NCCC has been successfully conducting trainings to improve the skills of cybersecurity specialists for state cybersecurity entities, critical infrastructure and other enterprises within the framework of the public-private partnership with CRDF Global in Ukraine. The VDP training course for the financial sector of Ukraine also involved the National Bank’s Cyber Defense Center, so that banking staff could practice skills in familiar, industry-specific interfaces.
