The NCSCC conducted strategic-level command and staff exercises on cyber security
The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center at the NSDC of Ukraine, with the support of the USAID Cybersecurity Activity Project, held the strategic-level National Cyber Readiness 2022 Annual Command and Staff Training (TTX) for the second time. They were attended by representatives of all members of the NCSCC, cyber security entities of Ukraine, critical infrastructure facilities, NKEK and a number of ministries.
During the exercises, the algorithm for the application of the Procedure for the interaction of cyber security entities during the response to cyber incidents/cyber attacks, approved at the meeting of the NCSCC on September 22, 2022, was worked out, in particular, regarding the response to threats of the red and black levels of danger.
According to the scenario, the participants performed tasks and practiced the procedure of interaction when responding to large-scale cyber attacks (in particular, using supply chains), and special information operations that accompany such attacks.
"russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine showed that we can overcome the enemy only together. One of the goals of the event was to identify gaps in procedures for joint response, strategic communications and coordination of actions in the context of crisis situations in cyberspace and cyber operations planning. Therefore, according to the results of the TTS, relevant decisions of the NCSCC will be adopted to strengthen the capabilities of building the National Cyber Security System of Ukraine," Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhiy Demediuk said.
Serhiy Demediuk emphasized that the command and staff exercises made it possible to coordinate the actions of all cyber security subjects and work out an effective interaction algorithm so that the entire security and defense sector is ready to respond in a coordinated manner in the event of an escalation by the aggressor country.
Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service of the Staff of NSDC of Ukraine, the NCSCC Secretary Natalia Tkachuk thanked those present for their participation in TTX and their contribution to strengthening the National Cyber Security System, as well as the USAID Project "Cyber Security of Critically Important Infrastructure of Ukraine" for supporting such important initiatives.
People's deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Fedienko became the facilitator of the event.
Annual strategic-level command and staff exercises are provided for by the Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine, put into effect by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 447/2021 of August 26, 2021.
