Oleksiy Danilov: Ukrainian authorities may address partners with a proposal to create humanitarian convoys for grain transportation
The grain deal should work. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov on the air of Rada TV channel on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Oleksiy Danilov emphasized that it is primarily about people's lives, because if Ukrainian grain is not exported, artificial famine will occur in some countries. "This is what russia is trying to achieve," he added.
Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine noted that the President of Ukraine and representatives of the Ukrainian authorities are currently working hard to extend the grain corridor and ensure the protection of port infrastructure.
At the same time, Oleksiy Danilov reminded that the agreement between Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations on the Black Sea Grain Initiative remains in force. "We have no agreements with the russians, we have not signed any agreements with them and we are not going to sign any," he emphasized.
The NSDC Secretary noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to protect sea routes and create humanitarian grain convoys to transport Ukrainian grain so that the world "does not face a huge problem." According to him, Ukraine calls on its partners and international organizations, including the UN, to "maximize their involvement" in solving the problem.
At the same time, he emphasized that the civilized world realizes the importance of continuing the grain initiative: "The world is responsible, and russia has zero chance of defeating us".
