On September 28, 2023, an online seminar on “Physical and cyber protection of critical infrastructure facilities and their resilience in the regions of Ukraine” was held.

The event was organized by the Critical Infrastructure Security Service of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global in Ukraine).

Nearly 300 people took part in the seminar, including representatives of regional and district military administrations, territorial communities, operators of regional critical infrastructure facilities, Ukrainian research institutions, and higher education institutions.

Speakers included representatives of state authorities (the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine), CRDF Global, and international partners from the United States and the European Union.

The participants of the event discussed the issues of ensuring the security and resilience of critical infrastructure in the regions of Ukraine, cybersecurity, fire, industrial safety and civil defense, the main aspects of engineering protection of critical infrastructure facilities of Ukraine on the principle of “Country-Fortress”, and others.

There was also a presentation of the E-Learning Platform, which contains seven e-learning modules on critical infrastructure security and resilience developed by the Emergency Management Institute of the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and two modules (new e-learning courses) developed by Ukrainian experts on critical infrastructure security and resilience. This Platform was provided within the framework of the Project "Assistance in Addressing the Urgent Needs of the Critical Infrastructure Security Service of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure.
