Oleksandr Lytvynenko: Ukraine needs more air defence systems to counter russian missile attacks
Ukraine needs more air defence systems to counter russian missile attacks on critical infrastructure and cities. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko on Thursday, 18 April, during a meeting with a delegation from the European Commission's Foreign Policy Instrumentation Service (FPI).
"The main targets of russian missile attacks are not military. They continue to strike at major cities in the south and east of Ukraine. They want people to end without gas, electricity and water supply, and turn cities into deserts. To defend ourselves, we need a sufficient number of air defence systems that our Western partners can provide us with", - said Oleksandr Lytvynenko.
In the course of the dialogue, the parties discussed the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, the geopolitical situation in the world, and the military and political situation in Ukraine.
Peter Wagner, Head of the European Commission's Foreign Policy Instruments Service (FPI), expressed the support for the Ukrainian people in their fight against the russian aggressor, and emphasised that the European Commission would facilitate in communicating the information on the situation in Ukraine in the international arena.
