Nataliia Tkachuk: Effective interaction and coordination are prerequisites for Ukraine's information resilience
On Thursday, 24 October, Nataliia Tkachuk, Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service, Secretary of the NCCC, took part in the conference ‘Resilient Together: Developing Media Literacy in Ukraine’. The event was organised within the framework of the UNESCO World Media and Information Literacy Week and brought together representatives of the state, international organisations and media experts.
The conference participants discussed the role of media literacy in strengthening national security and combating disinformation. During the panel discussion ‘Media Literacy and National Security: Why Media Literacy is Important at the State Level’, Nataliia Tkachuk focused on the critical importance of media literacy for strengthening the resilience of society in a hybrid war, when information is used as a weapon for disinformation and attacks.
‘Ukraine's experience in combating disinformation demonstrates the need for collective efforts to counter information aggression. The media community and civil society have traditionally played a key role in building our information resilience. For its part, the state must ensure a unified strategic approach to these issues, effective interaction and coordination, because today it is a matter of our nation's survival,’ said Nataliia Tkachuk.
Other issues discussed included countering disinformation, strategic communications, and the development of media literacy in Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to the use of artificial intelligence to improve policies, empower users, and responsibly consume information.
