Ukraine appreciates the support of the Czech Republic: NSDC Secretary meets with Czech delegation
On Wednesday, 31 October, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko met with a delegation of the Czech Republic headed by National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Tomáš Poyar. The meeting was also attended by Government Commissioner for Ukraine's recovery Tomáš Kopeční and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Radek Pech.
Oleksandr Lytvynenko briefed the delegation on the current security situation and praised the Czech Republic's significant role in supporting and assisting Ukraine. In particular, he thanked for the implementation of the Czech initiative to provide Ukraine with large-calibre artillery shells.
Speaking of critical needs, the NSDC Secretary emphasised the air defence systems that Ukrainian cities need ahead of the heating season, and the threat of russian attacks on energy facilities.
For his part, National Security Adviser to the Government of the Czech Republic Tomáš Poyar assured of the continued support of the Ukrainian people in their fight against the russian aggressor.
In the course of the dialogue, the parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in defence technologies, and agreed on further cooperation in the implementation of Ukraine's strategic course towards EU and NATO membership. The parties also addressed the problems of Ukrainian refugees who are being sheltered by the Czech Republic.
