NCCC holds regional workshop to improve interagency cooperation in cybersecurity

202411141.jpegOn November 13-14, the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine held a workshop on “Achieving Cybersecurity and Resilience through Improving Interagency Cooperation” in Ivano-Frankivsk.

The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness of representatives of regional critical infrastructure facilities on practical cyber defense tools, including lessons learned from cyber warfare and the experience of international partners in countering cyber attacks on networks and systems. The event is aimed at strengthening public-private partnerships between Ukrainian cybersecurity entities and representatives of regional critical infrastructure facilities.

202411143.jpegThe seminar was attended by more than 40 representatives of critical infrastructure facilities in Ivano-Frankivsk region, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, the European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine, the National Directorate for Cybersecurity of Romania, and the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Center.

The seminar program covered a wide range of issues, including cyber incident response procedures, vulnerability management in critical information and communication networks, as well as case studies on interagency cooperation and public-private partnerships.

20241114.jpegClose cooperation with our international partners is extremely important for strengthening the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure. Joint exercises and exchange of experience allow us to integrate the best practices of the EU and NATO countries, adapting them to the national context, said Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhii Demediuk, opening the event.

Particular attention was paid to sharing best practices in critical infrastructure protection among representatives of regional critical infrastructure facilities, government agencies, and international experts. In addition, the workshop included a series of practical sessions, including practicing cyber incident response procedures (TTX) and assessing institutional resilience. This allowed the participants to gain unique experience in identifying and eliminating vulnerabilities, as well as expanding opportunities for effective cooperation between states.

202411142.jpegRepresentatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine also gave a lecture to students and teachers of IT specialties at King Danylo University in Ivano-Frankivsk. The event was devoted to the development of the National System of Cybersecurity of Ukraine, peculiarities of ensuring cyber defense of the state and countering cyber threats, in particular in the context of the Russian Federation's cyber aggression against Ukraine.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration and with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine, the Romanian National Directorate for Cybersecurity and the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Center.
