The President of Ukraine signed the law on the State Budget for 2025. Security and defense are a priority

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025”, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on November 19.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025”, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on November 19. The law allocates more than UAH 2.2 trillion, or 26.3% of GDP, for the security and defense forces.

This is in line with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of October 2, 2024 “On Proposals to the Draft Law of Ukraine ‘On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025’ on Articles Related to Ensuring National Security and Defense of Ukraine”, enacted by the Decree of the Head of State of October 2, 2024 No. 683.

The above decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine set a task for the Government to ensure that in 2025 the amount of expenditures on national security and defense of Ukraine can be increased, taking into account the military and political situation and the requirements of the budget legislation. Thus, as in this year, next year it is planned to increase the approved expenditures, taking into account the urgent needs of the security and defense sector bodies related to the implementation of measures to repel the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

The above decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine assigned the Government the task of taking measures in accordance with the established procedure to ensure timely and full funding in 2025 for the security and defense sector bodies of Ukraine to pay salaries to military personnel, rank and file and police officers.

Ensuring the proper maintenance of the personnel of the security and defense forces and the implementation of social guarantees are important areas that are under constant control of the President of Ukraine and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine was instructed to ensure timely financing of the state budget expenditures for the security and defense sector of Ukraine in full in 2025.
