Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on Saturday took part in events to mark the second anniversary of the establishment of the National Guard of Ukraine

Today President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Yuriy Allerov visited the training ground in the village New Petrivtsi (Kyiv region), where they got acquainted with the level of readiness of fighters to perform service-combat missions and examined samples of weapons, which National Guard of Ukraine is armed with.

Mr. Turchynov awarded servicemen with state awards. Congratulating National Guardsmen, NSDC Secretary of Ukraine said that the Head of the State in his speech "said the main thing: National Guard became one of the best and most powerful military units of Ukraine". "All over the world in all military units the word "Guard" means "the best". This is exactly what you became", ‑ he stressed.

"National Guard reliably defends Ukraine at the front and in the rear. And today Ukrainians can live peacefully, when they are protected by real heroes, real guardsmen", ‑ NSDC Secretary of Ukraine said.

Mr. Turchynov said that NSDC of Ukraine will continue to consider the issue on providing the National Guard with modern equipment and weapons, so servicemen could worthily fulfill their duty concerning protection of the country and its citizens.
