First Deputy to NSDC Secretary of Ukraine Oleg Hladkovskiy took part in the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Work Group on Defense Industry Cooperation
First Deputy to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleg Hladkovskiy, heading the Ukrainian delegation, took part in the regular meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Work Group on Defense Industry Cooperation in Lviv.
The NATO delegation was headed by NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Investment Patrick Auroy. The event was also attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Concern "Ukroboronprom" and the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current level of Ukraine-NATO military-technical cooperation, the measures in the framework of the NATO Trust Fund on reforming the system of logistics and standardization and implementation of the program of modernization of the communications and troop control automation system, the prospects of production of military equipment in Ukraine in accordance with the Alliance standards. The participants also discussed plans for deepening of cooperation, including NATO's assistance within the framework of realization of the national programs of development of the defense industry in the nearest future.
The developments in the field of security of the airspace, the results of the work of defense enterprises, including the State Enterprise "Ukroboronprom" were also presented to the participants of the meeting.
The NATO delegation presented the preliminary results of the study "Combating hybrid warfare".
"Let me first of all thank the members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization for the continual support of our country - from the exchange of experience to the direct military-technical assistance to Ukraine. The programs in the framework of the NATO Trust Funds, created to support the defense capabilities of our country, significantly help Ukraine in of the reforming of the defense industry complex according to Western standards. This, in turn, contributes to the deepening of cooperation with the companies of the Alliance member countries. I hope that in the nearest time together we will not only define clear ways of adaptation of the production quality control system of the national defense industry complex to the NATO system of weapons and equipment quality assurance, but will also start to apply them. I emphasize that the development of the full-scale partnership with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is a priority for Ukraine", - Mr. Hladkovskiy stated in his speech.
He expressed confidence that the results of the joint work within the Joint Work Group on Defense Industry Cooperation will make for the strengthening of the security of the Euro-Atlantic space and the achievement by our state of the necessary criteria for future membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
