Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov and Head of the National Security Bureau of the Republic of Poland Pawel Soloch discussed the trending areas of cooperation in the security and defense sector.
The Head of the National Security Bureau of Poland (NSB) is paying a visit to Ukraine under the Protocol on cooperation between the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine and the NSB of the Republic of Poland.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the situation in the east of Ukraine, Russia's attempts to derail the peace process of the conflict settlement, and the threat to European security due to the Kremlin's aggressive actions.
Mr. Turchynov and Mr. Soloch stressed the efficient cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the military, defense, and military-technical spheres. In this context, the parties highly appreciated the operation of the Polish-Ukrainian-Lithuanian brigade which took part in the largest international military exercise in Poland - "Anaconda 2016" this summer.
Ukraine and Poland have launched many promising military-technical projects to significantly strengthen defense capabilities of both countries and open new joint opportunities in the security sphere. In order to unite the efforts of defense enterprises, to coordinate the work within the framework of existing projects and to create new projects, Ukrainian party suggested establishing a joint permanent contact and coordination group.
Heads of the NSDC of Ukraine and the NSB of Poland voted for the importance of further deepening of bilateral cooperation between the defense agencies and secret services of Ukraine and Poland, for expanding military-technical cooperation between our countries. The question of cooperation with Poland within the framework of the transition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to NATO standards was also discussed.
