Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine visited the tests of unmanned fighting equipment
The tests of unmanned ground-based and aerial equipment took place today. This was said by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov at Honcharivske proving ground in Chernihiv region after the tests were completed.
"Unmanned technologies represent a very important direction of development of armaments and military equipment for our Armed Forces. They allow to carry out a wide range of reconnaissance and combat missions at the same time saving lives of the military servicemen, which is vital for us", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine said adding that this is why "the issue of developing modern unmanned equipment has become one of the important activity areas for our defense enterprises".
Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine informed that the unmanned tactical multipurpose armored vehicle "Phantom" presented by "Ukroboronprom" earlier on was tested. "Today, its capability of hitting targets accurately from different positions including on-the-move was checked. We are satisfied with the result", - he noted.
"Also, the unmanned combat module installed on the IFV showed a good performance. It can be used on conventional infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers", - Mr. Turchynov noticed. According to him, fire from this module (main gun, anti-tank missile, machine gun) can be delivered both directly from the fighting machine and at a great distance from it, being in a hidden protected place. "This will give us a significant advantage during combat operations, especially in defense", - he added.
Apart from that, Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine examined the tests of tactical reconnaissance and strike unmanned aircraft systems that can not only detect the enemy but also hit the targets accurately.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, it is important that along with the production of strike UAVs we have launched the production of special ammunition of blast-fragmentation, cumulative and thermobaric effect together with the guidance facilities, which these systems will be equipped with to carry out combat missions.
Mr. Turchynov reported that the effect of this ammunition was also checked during the tests.
