Oleksandr Turchynov: Russia will do everything possible to prevent Ukraine from moving towards Euro-Atlantic integration

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov considers it possible to amend the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the Eurointegration and Euro-Atlantic course.

Speaking at the XI National Expert Forum in Kyiv, Mr. Turchynov pointed out that "the prospect of Ukraine's accession to NATO is frightening Putin since this prevents him from conducting military operations against our country". At the same time, he noted that many of Ukraine's partners "are afraid of our presence in NATO since after that they face a threat of military conflict with the Russian Federation".

"Russia will do everything possible to prevent Ukraine from moving towards Euro-Atlantic integration. But who is Putin that he will determine the fate of Ukraine? Let Russian propagandists comment on his statements, - he said at the request to comment on the statements of the President of the Russian Federation, - and we must do our job and move towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration".

Answering the question, the NSDC Secretary expressed his conviction that it is possible to amend the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the Eurointegration and Euro-Atlantic course. According to him, it is necessary to hold an all-Ukrainian referendum, "and if Ukrainians support this thesis, we must implement it in the Constitution"
