Oleksiy Danilov: Ukraine will definitely become the 33rd member of NATO

Ukraine will definitely become the 33rd member of NATO. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

Oleksiy Danilov called the discussion of Ukraine's invitation to NATO, which is currently taking place at the NATO Summit in Vilnius, "historic": "What we have heard today and will hear tomorrow will be significant for our history."

"Of course, we would very much like to be accepted into NATO right now, but we realize that there is a war going on in Ukraine," he said, adding that the movement towards Euro-Atlantic integration will continue at the next summits. At the same time, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine noted that this path has become much shorter, as our country will not fulfill the Membership Action Plan.

"We will move forward, and our membership in this family will be announced," he said, adding that "this is not an easy process," but "homework on the full transition to Alliance standards" will be done.

The NSDC Secretary recalled that when putin launched his large-scale aggression on February 24, 2022, there were 30 NATO member states. Finland has recently joined NATO, Sweden will soon join, and Ukraine will definitely join this "family".

"We will prove to everyone that we have to be there. What our military, society, and military and political leadership are doing is proving to the world that we are already a member of this community," he said. - "Our army today meets all NATO standards.

At the same time, Oleksiy Danilov denied the russian propaganda thesis that the world is "tired" of helping Ukraine. According to him, "the world is with us until we win, all countries will fight this evil together with us."

Oleksiy Danilov commented on the first day of the NATO summit in Vilnius on Suspilne, Channel 24 and Radio Liberty.
